In 2005, the second year back for coach Gibbs, the Washington Redskins turned around their 6-10 season in 2004 (the first year Joe Gibbs was back) to a 10-6 season by winning their last five games which eliminated rival Dallas from making the playoffs and propelled them into the playoffs where they beat Tampa Bay in the 1st round and lost to the Seahawks in the divisional round.

During the 2006 preseason, the team lured Kansas Cities offensive coordinator Al Sanders to the team.

In 2006, the Redskins dropped to 5-11.

For 2007, the Redskins aquired WR Corey Bradford, OL Jason Fabini, OL Ross Tucker, OT Pete Kendall, WR Todd Pinkston, DT Matthias Askew and RB Dee Brown.

In the 2007 NFL Draft, Washington selected FS LaRon Landry. The remaining selections were OLB Dallas Sartz, ILB H.B. Blades, QB Jordan Palmer and TE Tyler Ecker.
